About 140 Hope Centre clients braved the wintry weather to share Christmas dinner, Wednesday evening.

The social service agency’s food security co-ordinator Gina Couldery said the event is still “really special to Hope Centre to put on,” despite having run it for many years.

For many of the organization’s staff and clients, she said the people they see while visiting the King Street facility are like family.

Notre Dame College School was host of the dinner, prepared by Grade 10 to 12 students from the school’s culinary arts department, and served in the secondary school’s cafeteria.

“It’s great to see the students caring about their community,” said Hope Centre executive director Mark Carl.
