Thinking of “Students in Need” at Christmas

Christmas is a joyous time of the year for most, but for families facing nancial hardship, it can be anything but merry. While we often think of providing toys and other gifts to children whose families are in need, the necessities of everyday life for students are often overlooked. Every day in the Niagara Region, one on five students goes to school hungry. some wait in line before class to have a breakfast. For lunch, they have pizza scraps from the previous night supper. They lack necessities for such as warm clothing, shoes, personal hygiene products, money for school uniforms and equipment for students with special needs. Poverty is very often associated with third world countries that Niagara area residents regularly hear about and support, perhaps little realizing that poverty or special needs exists right here at home. The Niagara Foundation for Catholic Education is a registered charitable foundation that within its means, attempts to lend a helping hand. As always, and specially in Christmas, any support you can offer for students in need will be greatly appreciated.

Your contribution is valuable to many of the programs run by the Niagara Catholic District School Board. To make a donation to the Niagara Foundation for Catholic Education please print, complete and mail the Donation Form to:
